    Application

There are few methods for appling paints like brush, rooler, conventional spray and airless spray which are to be selected as per requirement.

    Health & Safety

The ingestion should always be avoided. Food and drinks should not be brought into stored, prepared or consumed in areas where paint is stored, or used. In addition to this, smoking in such area should always be prohibited.

It should be remaindered that the inhalation of paint, dust or fumes should be avoided by use of local ventilator or extraction. You can wear suitable respirator or mask to avoid the fumes or dust. The proper ventilation to exhaust the solvent fumes is also vital.
If ventilation is not possible use air fed mask.

Do not cover mouth with common cloth because they can get soacked with paints and are not at all good as air filter. We know that the solvent fumes are heavier than the common air and will tent to accumulate at the bottom of tank or in confined space.

Always wear working clothes which covers the body to maximum possible extent. You can also use gloves and eyes shield, clean eye shield frequently to remove paint miist.
In addition, you can also take precaution like don’t touch eyes, mouth, nose etc., with gloves. If the clothes are soacked with paints or thinner change them immediate and wash with soap and water. Properly wash hands and mouth with fresh water immediately after painting. The ring, watch etc. should be removed while starting the paintings as this can trape solvent or paints resulting in prolong skin contact.

If thinner or paint splashed in eyes wash them with clean water continuously for 10 minutes and take medical advise. In the event of the paint spillage on skin if necessary remove it by swabbing it with solvents soacked rag wash it with soap and water.

All paint except water thinned contains organic solvents which are flammable.

    Surface Preparation

    Importance of Surface Preparation

We know that the proper surface preparation is vital for any protective coating system. You can not remove the contaminants like oil, grease, dirt and chemicals and they will prevent adhesion of the first coat. Rust left on surface will loosen the coating and mill scale if not removed completely will accelerate corrosion.

Decreasing : You can easily remove the large amount of contaminates like oil grease with the help of special solvents.

Contaminates are removed by wiping the surface with rags soaked in the solvents followed by wiping dry clean rags.

    Hand Tool Cleaning :

Hand Tool Cleaning is carried with the help of wire brushes, scrapes, chipping hammers followed by emery paper to remove loosely adhering rust, mill scale or other contaminants.

If possible power tool cleaning, flme cleaning or blast cleaning is to be done which will better surface for painting.

    Surface Preparation On Non-Ferrous Metals

The surface should be cleaned and made oil and grease free. When the surface is galvanized then any white Zink corrosion present can be used for the removal by high pressure water washing or scrubbling.

This removes soluble Zink salt from the surface. The substrates should be then etched primed by using washed primer to facilitate adhesion of the paint film on the surface.

    Surface Preparation Of Masonary Surface

Firstly, the surface should be clean dry and free from oils and other contaminates which adversely affect the adhesion of paint. Remembered that any loose contaminates and powder formed on the concrete may result in peeling off the paint film. Surface should be washed with fresh water and dried. The surface should be checked for neutrality and neutralized suitably prior to application.
